A membership organisation, whose mission is to educate, interact and promote growth within the field of contact lenses and related areas. They provide a wide range of benefits to help members at all stages of their educational and professional career and give access to a range of high quality resources. Members are provided with a continual stream of relevant information as well as the opportunity to communicate with others involved with contact lenses, whatever their role. The BCLA also runs a number of free and discounted events throughout the year for members and non-members. The highly regarded biennial Clinical Conference and Exhibition welcomes on average more than 1,000 UK and international delegates.
In addition we support (educational and/or exhibiting) other optical bodies and events, such as the Association of Optometrists (AOP), Association of Optometrists Ireland (AOI), College of Optometrists Scottish Optical Conference (SOC), Local Optometric Committees (LOCs) throughout the UK at local meetings and national conferences.
Collaboration also leads us to actively work with Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO), Association of Contact Lens Manufacturers (ACLM) and the General Optical Council (GOC) to help represent optometrists, contact lens opticians and their support teams, and encourage the development of the contact lens category.
